Let's clear the air about PTFE safety. This remarkable substance is chemically inert, meaning it doesn't react with food or transfer into it. All of the ingredients in our proprietary Stratanium nonstick are bound within the hard surface and will not migrate out. It's so safe and reliable, in fact, that it's FDA-approved for food contact and even used to coat things like pacemakers and heart stints. Crafted in Denmark, our cookware undergoes rigorous testing to exceed both American and European regulatory requirements. Key Safety Points:
- PTFE, which is in Scanpan nonstick, is environmentally inert, harmless to ingest, and does not chemically react with food, water, or cleaning products.
- PFOA, PFOS, and other PFAS of concern? These aren't used in the making of our products, and haven't been used in cookware manufacturing since 2013.
- PTFE is FDA approved and used in medical devices, so it's safe enough to implant directly into the body.
